Is it normal to hate all cologne?

I've never understood why most people seem to enjoy artificial fragrances, especially cologne, of any type. From time to time, someone will ask me what I think about the cologne they use, and I know they're hoping for a positive response, but I have none to offer since the smell of any cologne sickens me. Some people have also suggested that I start using the stuff myself to be more "normal" and appealing to others, but to be honest, cologne smells more repulsive to me than the B/O that drive people to use it.

The best way I can describe the way all cologne smells to me is that it smells like some sort of mysterious mold or fungus that a witch would put in her cauldron just after the frog's eye and right before the lizard's tail. IMHO, soap and water goes a long way, and unlike cologne, almost all soaps actually smell pleasant.

Is this somewhat normal, or am I really missing something here?

You might be allergic to artificial scents if you are having an adverse reaction to it.

    I am with you.

Wearing cologne is a selfish act in that people wear it because THEY like how it smells. It's not for others benefit.
I can understand a hint where it compliments your personal scent and you have to be very close to notice.
Unfortunately, some people seem to bath in it.
The matter is rather touchy in the workplace so most of the time we are forced to suffer.

What happens to me is that my nose stings so I breath through my mouth. I taste it in my mouth and then my stomach hurts.

It was once pointed out to me that some people wear heavy cologne to cover up medical conditions.
I would imagine like the smell of bile or something?
My deepest sympathy to those people, but I wish the rest would tone it down.

My orthodontist wears way too much cologne. Its so strong I can even smell the latex gloves he wears.

the problem with artificial fragrances is that many people go overboard. some people even keep reapplying all day and that is a no no.

I like a little on my wrists or behind my ears, but on a man it's a different story. I like men that just smell like themselves, their own masculine scent so I don't care for guys that wear cologne.
