Is it normal to hate a side of your family?

My fathers side of the family were never the best people to my mother, sister and i nor to my dad really either but once my parents split up they got really clingy for a little while and afterwards never spoke to or acknowledged our exsistance's again.

Why are you wasting energy on hating people you don't have any contact with? It's not hurting them, only wasting your energy

It happens in most families, regardless of stability or breakup. I hated my ex's brother the entire time I knew him, and he was no fan of mine. Just an asshole of a human being. Didn't like me because I gave his clueless sister a better life than they had growing up. In my own, I admit..Never got along with one of my uncles, still don't, and responded to one of his historic threats to be out of his will with "Got my own money, you whore-monger motherfucker".. And that was during one of the rare holidays he showed up for.
