You may have Night Hag it usually occurs when your half asleep. During te Salem Witch trials, People were extremely afraid of black cats, goblins, trolls, you name it. since images of them would be locked in their subconsious minds they would dream about them and since they tought they were real, they would often hallucinate when they're half asleep. These images would appear on their chest when the person was sleeping, And when they woke up they would feel week and tired and thought they had the life drained from them. And many people felt a presense from this experience. Thus beleiving that there was a witch nearby, they would gather up the villagers and hunt for one.
