I guess this speaks to whole raging nature vs nurture debate, but I don't think people that aren't homosexual themselves can offer much of value. I've know people that have literally told me that homosexuality was a choice for them (specifically, one woman who was so traumatised by men that she decided to be with women), and I've known people that say it was a birthright.
I personally have no idea which perspective is more accurate, but given the huge number if homosexuals that are ashamed of their proclivities and set up a whole life of lies, or even commit suicide based on their sexual orientation, I'm inclined to believe that it's not really a choice...I mean, if those people could chose, I'm sure they would chose the socially accepted way of life.
Is it normal to grow up gay because of your family relationships?
