Is it normal to grieve over the death of a sims person?

Ever since I lost my Sims character I am in depression.
It happened 5 months ago, he died of electrocution after trying to fix a broken TV.

I still cry every day and lost some weight. I was very emotional bonded to him.

I guess it isn't too common but I wonder if anyone here experienced something like this.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Did you have to sell your wallpaper to pay for the funeral?.

  • You really need a shrink; you are a very, very sick person. Don't you realize how absolutely CRAZY this makes you sound? If I were your parent, I would destroy all you computers and cell phones and never let you near one again. You probably should become Amish and forgo the modern world.

  • Definately not normal. you must be like 10 and under to feel that way.

  • Should've cheated and given them a life fruit.

  • Sims characters don't last that long in the newer games, they die of old age after a few weeks. The world of the Sims is vastly more cruel than you could imagine.

  • Not normal.. I remember laughing my ass off when my Adult Sim mother started tossing her baby around.. Putting it in the garbage can.

  • Not really, but there are probably people here who have lost relatives and while it's fun to do this whole loss thing, it's probably hard to hear about it if you're actually suffering the loss of a relative.

  • I think that you should see a therapist as your reaction is a tad extreme.

  • To be sad a day or two, even three is normal but to that point it's (I can't find the right word).

  • Normal to feel a slight sadness when this happens but grieving for 5 months is not normal i think.

  • And this is why I always get my Sims to a mechanical level of 10 before I let them go anywhere near technology...

(Then again, I've never played the game realistically, with anti-aging turned on and money cheat codes, and, sometimes, I kill whole groups of Sims just for fun.)

  • 5 months isn't normal :P a few days, sure, maybe a week max.

I get very upset when Dogmeat dies in Fallout 3 but thankfully I can go back and reload the game!

  • Is it on Sims3? Did you create him? When you open your world, check the bottom of the screen to see if he's saved there.
