I didn't go to my school's prom, and I really do not regret not going. It's the sort of thing that's perfect for some people and probably is the best day of their lives so far; dressing up and going to a party. But in the end, dressing up and going to a party is all it really is and some people just don't like those things. I know mine was very expensive to get a ticket to, so I didn't bother.
EDIT: The real reason I didn't go was because I was going through a period of anxiety to strong for me to want to leave the house, let alone go to a party with all people I didn't like. But still, I would never have wanted to go at the best of times :)
