I accompanied an ex to Stockholm on a business trip years ago; it was business for him, but I was there to see the sights. While he was cloistered in an office working all day, I was out shopping, visiting the open-air market, roaming the old quarter and checking out museums. Honestly, I was sorry I wasn't by myself and enjoyed my solitary vacation more than the time I shared. I paid my own way, but I would gladly have paid extra to have more time to explore by myself.
On the other hand, I wasn't very into the guy, which is why he became an ex shortly after the trip. If I had been with someone terrific, I might have felt differently.
Going abroad by yourself sounds magnificent; do it as often as you can afford to go! Immersing yourself in somewhere new is wonderful.
Why not again? Not a buisness trip, but I mean a real holiday abroad by yourself. Meet new people, make new friends, be relaxed, forget about the rest of your life, visit where you want, when you want, how you want... Just do it, nothing bad could happen. It will do you good, and will make you happy and maybe even think differently about things.
Is it normal to go on holiday... by yourself?
