Is it normal to give up ivy league opportunity?

I have a chance to get into multiple Ivy League schools because of athletics. I am also a good student but would not make it in if not for sports. It would cost probably ten grand per year. Is it normal to give up this academic opportunity for a free ride at a tier three school?

    I know Harvard gives need based scholarships so no. But if you care about sports ivy isn't the way to go, Brown offered me one for swim but Stanford did to and i got a full ride for stanford. Try out other schools, maybe you'll find what you're looking for
