Is it normal to give inanimate objects personalities?

I've noticed that I have attachments to certain objects. Being a girl, its mostly with my clothes and shoes. But I was talking to my boyfriend and he said that he gets certain feelings towards particular objects, and he feels like they have personalities. When he told me this I remembered that when I was younger I used to think that my fingers had personalities and characteristics. I used to think that my middle finger was the mean one and he would beat up my other fingers, and that whenever I'd get a cut on it I'd pretend that it was caused by my middle finger. Did anyone else ever feel like this? Is it normal to think that inanimate objects have personalities?

    This is actually a innate and prehistoric tendency in humans. It is the basis for many prehistoric beliefs where people turned various inanimate objects into deities.

    I used to think that numbers had personalities when I was younger. Like 5 and 6 were twins and 8 was 9's boyfriend but her dad 10 was overprotective of her.
