When I was 16 I gave my boyfriend a rose in college as a surprise (non valentines day) and he loved it and carried it round all day, a few of my guy friends also told me it was sweet and they wished someone would do it for them. I sent my current boyfriend (now 22) a bunch of roses last valentines and again he loved them, but I tend to go for sensitive, nice guys so it could be different if you're dating a jock type guy and turn up with a rose to his football match etc haha. but i think if you're with the guy or know him well you should be able to gage whether he'd like it pretty well. good luck :) if he likes you he should love it anyway, and if not, his loss ;)
