Is it normal to give a guy his bday present on the 1st date?

Ive seen this guy at my friends wedding,Ive liked him instantly.Ive added him on facebook,he didnt remember from the wedding but we still kept in touch online,I like him.He said he is interested to see where this is going,we organised to meet up next week,it was his birthday a few days ago& i wished him happy birthday, now im not sure should i buy him bday gift and give it to him when we meet for the 1st time? Will it be too much or not? Is some kind of perfume a good idea?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Noooo don't get anything other than a card for him. It's too early; you'll creep him out.

  • You sound sweet but I wouldn't overdo it. Maybe a birthday card?

  • No don't, maybe wait for next year?

  • For your first date, just a hand job, anything more would be inappropriate

  • It's a first date...I think I'd reconsider cologne or any other gift right now. Perhaps just an amusing birthday card or offer to pay for the date in honor of the special day.

  • Save money-- just give him a birthday kiss in your birthday suit.

  • Aghhh a good idea would be like a tiny helicopter toy thing and say "now that you know how to fly one, I figured id buy you one"

  • Thanks guys for all of ur comments, well i suggested we go out for drinks but he said he doesnt want to go for drinks for 1st time we meet and that we both would be under influence and he wont be able to get to know 'the real me' hes actually the first guy who doesnt want to go for drinks during 1st meeting,im not sure if its a good thing or not?? so i said lets meet at the shopping centre,so i dont know if its a date or not..

    • He's being nice, he didn't have the balls to say no, he wants to be able to get rid of you in time to be able to go out with his friends for drinks.

I'm not being mean, I'm just being honest. From the sounds of things, he's not nearly as interested in you as you are in him.

  • get him something tiny, then its the thought that counts and he might think its sweet or funny

  • NO!! No gift!! That REEKS of desperation and stalker potential. Do you hear me?? Don't do it!!

  • What do u mean by saying hes not for me if he wears perfume? I meant male perfume as cologne and so on,so any of u dont think that he wont be happy if i dont buy him a gift? He did mention to me that one of his presents were helicopter flying lessons&he was so happy about it.. So i think there is a chance that he will think that im not into him if i dont get him a gift and wouldnt i look a bit cheap if i only get a bday card? Whats ur opinions on this?

  • If he wears perfume then I'm not sure you're the one for him...

  • Not if you want a second date.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • No that's something you do for people you know well.

  • Nooo its only the first time, don't worry he won't be disappointed. I think it would scare him to receive a 50-100$ gift on the first date. Personally i wouldn't buy anything but if you really wanna be sweet buy him a card

  • Don't do it!! I would be a little freaked out... And you might come accross as a stalking type!! Yikes!
