Is it normal to get this tingling sensation?

I often get this kind of tingling sensation down my spine and in my upper arms. The feeling is only aroused during something which touches me emotionally. Typically, I might be listening to music which I really connect with or watching an epic scene in a movie.

The sensation normally only lasts a few second at a time, and I cannot control it. It's kind of pleasurable but not to a large extent.

I always thought this is natural and a normal human response, but is it? Is this normal?

Is It Normal?

  • The scientific name for it is frisson. :) I learned the term in a music class. Listening to music or speech that deeply affects you emotionally can cause it.

  • It this from emotional, psychical and mental stimuli. However, there are times where it appears to come from nowhere.
