I had to deal with the same thing. I really didn't like attention being drawn to me and with attendance, that felt like that was the case. Either that or I would be quiet for the longest time and suddenly, when the teacher calls on me, my throat would be trickling with spit and I sound like I'm gurgling... I know what you mean.
Is it normal to get this nervous about role call?
