Is it normal to get this mad

I'm a pretty laid back person. It takes a lot
To make me angry. But when I'm driving it's a different story. I get so mad at people who can't drive. When they pullout and cut me off or drive so slow and do stupid things such as using a turn signal while driving around a curve. I'm in my car yelling at these people. Or not use their turn signal and I'm sittin there pissed off cause I could have went. Does anyone else get this way? And god forbid they almost cause I wreck. I roll my window down and yell and cuss, and feel like fighting. Not like me at all to be that way.

Is It Normal?

  • It's normal to get angry. We all get angry every now and then. It's not sociably acceptable to express road rage however.

There are countless stupid, angry and ignorant drivers out there so it really does you no good to get so angry that you cuss, yell and honk your horn at other drivers because that just serves to escalate the situation.

  • I've never driven so I don't understand this, but I've seen it in others. I wonder if the protection the shell of a car affords allows us to be more vocal in our disapproval? A bit like being on the internet, where we can abuse anyone we like from behind our screens, safe in the knowledge they're not going to punch our lights out.

Maybe we're all angry on the inside and the only thing which keeps a lid on it is the fear of reprisal.

    • I was thinking about this exact same theory yesterday; that the car is something to hide behind, so to speak, just like the Internet.

      • I was extemporising. Floating it out there, like much of what I say, but I'm very happy to have you along for the ride. I'm amazed we were thinking the same exact thing.
