Is it normal to get the urge to make hard consonant sounds?

Just randomly, I get the urge to make a certain sound - like a "g" or "k". So I'll make that sound or say a word with that sound in it. I don't know why, but it kind of makes me feel better to have that feeling in my mouth when I say that letter. Sometimes I'll just sit there and make the "k" sound...I kind of click I guess.

Does anyone else do this?

    I do this a lot. Sometimes just a random urge to make a certain consonant noise, yep. I've got it now actually, now that you've mentioned it. Sometimes it's just a random noise I make in my throat, I'm not sure what it is.

    Luckily for me I'm majoring in Linguistics so I have an excuse whenever I'm in public and make a random noise for no apparent reason :)

    I do this, I think it's a branch off my obsessive compulsive disorder. I'm glad you mentioned it now, I often wonder if other people do this. People around me notice it too. It's like a clicking sound I make in my throat. And I get urged to make a 'g' or a 'k' sound like you, and 'r's too. It's frustrating as I feel I have to do it.

    I recently realised that I tend to do it much more when I'm feeling nervous of anxious, do you find this too?

    Yeah i have no idea why but I just want to blurt out random harsh consonant sounds sometimes...maybe cuz I get bored.
