Is it normal to get really tired around the time of your period?

When I'm on my period I just want to sleep the whole time. I can get like nine hours of sleep and it's still not enough. I fall asleep in my classes. On weekends I just nap for like 4 hours a day. Is this normal?

  • Oh yeah. It's because of a drop in your estrogen and progesterone. This past Thursday I slept through my alarms and didnt wake up til 3pm...I usually wake up at 5am. Ha. Hormones are cwayzeee.

  • I feel the same way. It's like I cannot keep my eyes open if I wanted to sometimes. It's not that extreme every month though, and I am anemic. I hadent even thought of the possibility of those two things being related until I read the above comment.

  • It's normal to be tired during your period and to want to take naps during the day, but if you have to take 4 hour naps during the day, you may need to ask your doctor. Maybe she could check and see if you're anemic.

But everybody's body reacts differently to their periods, so maybe it could just be your body's way of reacting to your period.
