Is it normal to get irritated by this?

  • As a woman who wants equality for the sexes, but not superiority, this has never bothered me. Of course, that doesn't make it right. I don't know if it's right or wrong or if I'm just used to it because this is the way things have been for so long. I enjoy the celebration of the female body and I don't mind it being shown in sexy ways. My only complaint is lack of variation. I don't mind it being unrealistic, but more often than not only one or two body types are idealized in this way.

I agree that society is overly sexualized and it's hard to tell where human nature stops and consumerism begins. But it's also possible that you are a bit insecure about your sexuality, which is normal for teens. I used to watch anime with the volume really low because they make moaning noises so much and I didn't want my parents to hear and think I was watching porn. This is more of a fear of being judged; you may have inadvertently been taught to suppress and hide your sexuality.

    • You might be right but mostly I just want to hide sexual things from my parents because we NEVER spoke about sex when growing up, I only learned from friends and a bit from school. So my parents discovering my search history would essentially be the most embarrassing thing to happen to me. That's why I don't want them to think I'm watching porn when I'm actually just watching anime or whatever. I don't really have a problem speaking about it with friends though.
