  • Yes.

I have a few friends that have taken the morning after pill, they reccommended that one should take it before bed, because when they took it, it really goofed up their hormones for a while and made them get very aggressive/depressive and hormonal.

The morning after pill messes with your hormones so temporary changes to your mood are to be expected in many cases. Just don't take it on a regular basis (once every few months at least to be considered as a regular basis) because it, very much like abortion, can render you infertile or otherwise damage your fertility.

I repeat, because judging from your last post you seem to be a bit ill-informed on the topic. The Morning after pill is NOT MEANT TO BE USED ON ANY SORT OF REGULAR BASIS. It can seriously screw with your hormones. Especially if you're young. You might be getting symptoms of depression BECAUSE you've fucked with your hormones, if you're using it on a regular basis. The morning after pill is a HUGE doseage of synthetic hormones and can seriously fuck up your body much worse than the birth control pill.

    • Um. No. I'm not ill-informed. I just found angel's comment to be completely reductive and unconstructive.

I know the MAP isn't supposed to be used on a regular basis. That is why I have used it twice in 5 years, and only when the condoms have broken. And I know that it doesn't protect you from STDs - I was using a condom, not really much you can do when it busts in half. Please don't treat me like I'm stupid. I took precautions, it's not my fault that the condom split.

As you may have gathered, I have a sensitivity to the hormones which are used in birth control medication, which is why I'm not on the pill, or the implant, or anything else which messes with my hormones. I'm considering the coil, but I've heard it's quite painful to insert.

      • Fair enough. Try the Nuvaring first. I'm very drug sensitive and I have been on it for 5 years. Works great for me, Google it.
There are a lot of idiots that come on this site thinking the morning after pill is birth control. I know many people who think that irl. I'm used to people thinking it's birth control. Didn't mean to offend.

        • Why do you think that emergency contraception isn't birth control? That's literally what it is.

"Plan B One-Step is a type of emergency contraception. This is birth control that can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex."

    • False. PLAN B DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY! It also DOES NOT become less effective over time.

You probably don't wanna call anyone ill-informed if you're spreading lies like that. There's NO evidence that the morning after pill causes infertility or loses efficacy.

However, if you're using it over and over again, it's obviously a better idea to get on the birth control pill. I've also seen many young women become extremely depressed with high anxiety after taking plan B. It's a mega dose of hormones and that can dramatically affect you.

Here's a source backing up my claim that Plan B becomes less effective if used regularly and is not intended for regular use. Regular use of Plan B puts you at risk of infertility via substitution for protection in that if you're not using protection, you are exposing yourself to STDs that you're obviously not treating because you're not being tested which is a requiment for a birth control prescription in the United states. In and of itself, it may not cause infertility but it will do a number on your hormones after regular use due to aforementioned factors.

I'm not some damned neo-conservative redbeck. I have used the pill since this post and have purchased it for other individuals. I would always recommend it as a last resort but would always recommend actual birth control first. In the same tone, this is EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION, just like you wouldn't (or shouldn't) use your emergency brake as opposed to your actual brakes unless those fail, EC is only, ONLY, intended for use in the failure or absence of birth control. The implication is in the name itself.
