Is it normal to get cold sores sometimes?

I get those cold sores when it gets colder outside. Some people say that most of us have them and others see it as herpes and get disgusted by that. Hmm... should I be ashamed or it's normal to get cold sores?

I thought it was a typo until I saw you spell it wrong 2x.:D It's called "lancing"(to make an incision) not lacing :)Lacing is what you do with shoe strings, or adding to a drink or food ex."drugs".
Yes,cold sores is herpes that are contracted from other*infected* people either directly-example kissing or close contact with an infected person(with or without physical signs of herpes)or indirectly-example sharing eating utensils, towels, etc.Cold sores are usually caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1).Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus type 2.(HSV2) Note that a person with HSV1 that performs oral sex on another person can give that person genital lesions with (HSV1) Same as a person who performs oral sex on another person with genital-(HSV2)lesions can develop oral lesions.Unless you get tested you won't know which virus you have.Herpes is so common that most times when people get tested for STD's unless they specifically asked to be tested for herpes the Dr's does not order test for herpes.
1 in 6 people are infected(something to think about next time you are at an event where you shake hands with a lot of people and or cheek kissing lol.) and odds are most ALL are infected by the time they become elderly.
You CAN contract or pass the viruses onto other people even if you have no visual cold sores/or skin lesions. There is no cure for any type herpes once you are infected you have it for life. Some people infected may never get a cold sore or other symptoms.

No you most likely are not getting them from other poeple ,I do believe it is a herpie but not like the the std ones . you do get them from the cold or when you get sick these are normol , and some poeple get them more than others , just do not lace it becuase that will only infect it more and possible give you knew ones and I get those alot too thier really painful and a real bother . The herpe you get in your boxer shorts or your panties is diffrent and are contracted from sex or exposer to the infected area but that is a completly diffrent herpe .

  • Aww, they're very common, nothing to be ashamed of. You can buy some gel stuff to make them go away faster.

cold sores are herpes. you don't have to get them from sex though. i started getting them when i was younger because my mom's always had them. passed it on. Rx meds work really well and IMMEDIATELY, or nail polish remover on a q tip for a while to dry it out. sounds odd, but works pretty well. they SUCK and i feel like everyone's judging me.

Yeah, it is herpes but a lot of people get them. You can use Abreva at the first signs of getting one to make it go away faster.

It is a form of herpes and you can talk to your doc about treatment.
