Is it normal to get bad acne even with a good routine?

For months now i’ve been struggling with bad acne. I’ve tried all the name brand products like proactiv and cerave. I still use the cerave products twice daily and I’m noticing that i keep getting painful white heads on the lower part of my face. Is this normal? I’ve been using the same products for a least 2-3 months now so Im not sure if it’s making my skin better or worse. If anybody knows any good brands that worked for them, please let me know!!

Yeah it is. Acne is genetic and you could have a skin condition and sensitivites. If it's really bad you should see a dermotologist probably. Make sure to hydrate and to avoid sunlight. The best skin care routine you can have is to use sunscreen daily honestly, even when it isn't sunny out. It's really good. You will also benefit from going on a healthier diet.

You may have the kind of acne that needs to be treated with a prescription. You should see a dermatologist.

In the meantime, make sure you are changing your pillowcases every week. Also, don't over wash your face or pick at it too much (I know it can be tempting, but try and avoid it as much as possible). Twice a day is fine and use a moisturizer and sunscreen, *especially* if you are using ProActiv. Anything with Benzoyl Peroxide you need to use sunscreen with. Neutrogena has sunscreen that shouldn't clog pores.

Dr. Pimple's product are said to be really good. And that's not her real name.

Stop eating refined carbs or seed oils, drink water, and unless there's some hormonal problem going on your skin will clear up. Speaking from experience.

If it’s not going away talk to your doctor about it, I had severe acne as a teenager and tried antibiotics (which did nothing) then Roaccutane which was a miracle drug for me. It’s not something they give patients straight away though, at least in the UK.

In the meantime some Gen Z’s apparently think acne is a good thing.
