It’s totally normal to have a reaction (like arousal) to a pleasurable sensation. It might be surprising or unexpected what triggers it, but everyone has unique things that feel amazing to them, and it doesn’t say anything about you as a person what sensations you find pleasurable.
I also think it’s natural to want to experiment and see if the arousal would happen again or if it was voluntary or involuntary. You didn’t do anything harmful to the puppy, or force it to do anything. I don’t think you did anything wrong, but it seems like you feel you did. The important part is that you felt bad about what was happening, so you stopped. You are not disgusting. You stopped and listened to your own moral compass, and that is what matters, not the past.
