Is it normal to get a headache while and after thinking intently?

So, basically, yeah. The subject line sums it up.

Lately I've noticed that whenever I do any really in-depth thinking, learning or memorization, I get a headache.

But the thing is, that whenever I get this headache, I know I'm going to be going for the gold. If I'm cooking up an idea while I've got this going on, it's almost always a keeper. If I study something while I've got one of these, I'll pretty much remember every line of what I went over in gruesome detail for months or even years after one single session.

I'm wondering if anyone else gets this? And if so, what do you think the cause might be?

    Me: I'm thinking...
    Jackass: Don't hurt yourself!!

I hear that all the time lol but for you it's true!
I don't have this problem. Though I get headaches after crying hard, not sleeping regularly or not drinking enough water. I think next time you have an idea going you should try sharing it and discussing it with someone and see if that helps. Maybe the stress of needing to memorize/remember what you're thinking about is the culprit. Or try writing it down.

I'll pass on the advice I've gotten: try eating something high in potassium or taking a supplement. A quick source of glucose (i.e. fruit or fruit juice) couldn't hurt.

I think the combo suggested by the nutritionist was potassium, magnesium, B6, zinc, and vitamin A.
