It may be normal, but it isn't very thoughtful. Depending on certain factors, one might say that it's even a little conceited.
Unless it's very casual, harmless flirting with just random people sometimes, then I don't see it as a big deal. But if it's repeatedly with people who you interact with on a regular basis, then I would say it's inconsiderate.
