Also, when you're young, Mom and Dad can be just part of the scenery of daily life that's always been there and always will be, but at some point young people take a little step back and grasp the fact that their parents are actually individuals with as many good and not so great facets as any other person. So you're seeing your mother as a woman, not just boring old Mom.

Bottom line: don't worry about it, and try not to get bent out of shape about what people say about her.
