I think it's normal, it can happen. When you don't see each other and only talk you connect on a deep meaningful level, it isn't about anything superficial at all. Plus you get to know the person a lot better. But looks do count for something, no matter how much people like to say they don't so if you guys ever meet which you probably will, hopefully you like what you see.
