Is it normal to feel your heart flutter?

I feel it occasionally - it's not something that happens on a regular basis. I'm a mom of three - ages 4 - 16. I know I have too much stress in my life. Have other people felt it too?

  • My heart goes pitter patter
And I know it doesn't matter.
    When it starts to flutter,
I wind up in the gutter.

  • I get them too, but it's not safe to say it's 'normal'. What you experience is called an Arrhythmia. Heart Arrhythmia's are muscle spasm's within the heart that threaten the functionality of the organ. If an Arrhythmia lasts too long the heart can stop and you can die. Get to a doctor for some tests to ensure you are in fact as healthy as you hope. I discovered my heart problems at age 16 and it's changed my life, now I don't have them as often and I feel better. Good luck!

  • Heart palpitations? It's normal to get those sometimes, but it can also be a sign of a medical problem. Stress isn't always the cause.

  • I had a flutter all my life. I'm 58 and I told the Doc about it and he prescribed Propranolol.

I rarley have a flutter now.

Google the medicine and the next time you are in your doctors office bring the subject up. Roy

  • I drink coffee all day - maybe I should switch to decaf after 12pm.

  • I get it regularly. I can usually feel what my heart is doing. As long as I stay away from caffeine, though, it's nothing too bad.
