Is it normal to feel trapped in my house?!

So since I had gotten pulled over and lost my liscence 2 months ago, I had to sell my truck. All this past summer I spent my time with my friends and kids driving aound wasting gas everyday. It kind of made me happy to go where ever I wanted, when I wanted too. Now that my truck is no longer there and my husband is always at work(all but 8 hours a day) I am stuck in my house 24/7. I get out on occasion with my husband and either his mom or his friend. But its not the same since we are on a set time limit/schedule everytime. And its nowhere near the same as being spontaneous and going where ever I want. I seriously feel like Im loosing my mind sitting at home all day, I think its making me hate my life in general. I have had to fight depression because of this. When I try to talk to my husband about it he cant relate at all since he is hardly ever home anyway and dont understand how it makes me feel at all. I just want to get out and drive without any restraint, and I have no way to do this..... WHAT SHOULD I DO?! DOES ANYONEELSE FEEL LIKE THEY ARE TRAPPED IN A PRISON AT HOME?!

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I am the same! My husband is at work all day, so when I tell him how I'm feeling, he can't relate. I also have four small children, so it gets crazy, and no matter how much I clean, the house is always messy, so he thinks I've been just sitting around all day. Aaahhhhh! I've actually waited for him to come home, and then I take his vehicle. I leave the children with him, and go for ice cream, or something I want, all by myself.

  • why don't you defeat this prison by blending with it?

    that is how to win.

I mean when you accept reality, by accepting that you can't travel regularly like you used to and the only thing left to do is blend with it.

Is the house clean? do you have any friends to call and waste your time on?
do you have a over seer friend to get in touch online? (paypal? facebook?)
    contribute to community like forums?
do you play game? playing video games can help burn time.

do you have any pets in the house you can take a walk with?

I mean have you even looked at your image in the mirror? do you look fat slim or beauty?
because you can definitely do some jugging outside to stay fit and healthy.

Do you smoke? or do any bad habits because you can use this free time in the house to practise and stop.

    ever tried meditating?

is there any charity shops close by your house, or even a park?

Listen anything will do, if your husband denies you for leaving the house then that is prison!
You are free to do what you want so get active! Being active will help keep your mind busy and cancel out the depression and sadness.

but that doesn't mean you should go out and cheat:P

  • You are going to hate this idea, but you probably have the ability to WALK! I don't own a car and I walk everywhere I go. I probably walk a couple miles a day. It's not bad after the first week.

  • Planning on doing something for you, and only you isn't such a bad idea, and you got married for a reason didn't you? Yes, you can do this; just, don't destroy your life in the process. When it's all said and done - your little trip might be just the escapade you need to tackle things like you want to.

The thing is, whatever you do... it has to be done big, and it has to be done right. It has to be worth a story you can tell.
