I got out a year ago. Stay on your medication, never skip it, talk to your therapist honestly, and don't bury the thing that bug you. When there's an issue or something you don't like that's going on around you, bring it up. You just have to keep going through each day, and following the doctor's orders. It does help. Trust me, I've been down that road. I'm 18 btw, and was almost 17 when I went in, so I'm not just some adult telling you what to do lol
