Don't see a therapist or physician, or a witch doctor for that matter. The problem is not external, stress we perceive as external is amplified by the mind. Medicines and "Therapists" only offer a short term fix, you need to learn to deal with life.
Life is Unpredictable, Absurd, Dreary, Monotonous, Wonderful, Rewarding, Puzzling, Joyful, Transient and Ephemeral. It's not this constant 'Thing' we perceive it to be, everything changes moment to moment.
Mind allows itself to be dragged into this chaos because we are bound by a sense of duty. A duty to be a certain way, act a certain way, perform a certain way etc., etc. The Mind, fueled by Ego says "I want this, I don't want that, I need this, I'd be better with . . . ." It chases and chases and chases and we get dragged along, never feeling we quite fit or we are not as good as . . . . .
What you need to do is jump over from the backseat and get behind the wheel, cause no-one is driving the bus.
The Trick to Life, if you like, is to learn to quieten the mind. It chatters loads but is it all useful? You can never stop thinking, this is an impossible task, but you can learn to take less notice of the chatter.
Is it important if such and such win the football? Probably not. How much time do fans take up worrying about their team and playing this or that team? So unnecessary.
I'm not advocating being an emotional blank here, don't misunderstand. Emotions, whatever they are, are present and we feel them, but they are also transient.
Learning to quieten and still your Mind is a technique that will serve you for life.
How often do you just sit in silence? Most people struggle, they find it too deafening. In the silence not distracted or attached to anything. This is your natural state of being, we all forgot that.
Meditation may help. Learning to help yourself now is the greatest gift you can give to your future self.
Is it normal to feel this way? I'm stuck in my head
