This is rather unusual. At first, judging from the tone of the story and the title, I thought that you were going to be in love with the mailman. Not the case, though...
Sometimes, it's normal to feel like a person is somehow feud filing the role of a parent to you. I know that has happened to me when I was a child toward doctors or camp counsellors, though with the doctors it was probably a form of transference. However, this man doesn't do things for you, at least that I know of, that could be interpreted as a form of care. You really don't know that much about the guy. You could try to get to know him and by doing so you might be able to him more as a person than a fantasy (?). Does that make sense? Does he seem a tad uneasy by you? You could be making him uncomfortable and a lot of things could enter his mind if you brought up your wish to get to know him. In fact, he might be frightened if you tell him how you think/feel about him. He might think that you are delusional, etc.
Is it normal to feel this way about your mailman?
