I think that it doesn't happen to everyone and I can't give you any advice from my personal experience or anything, but this happened to a friend of mine, again, it's not really the same as they were step-sisters, but as far as I'm aware, it does happen to some people, you and my friend being examples, but I'm gonna say the same thing to you as I did my friend, it cannot go far, at all, so I would suggest just attributing it to appreciating beauty when it's right in front of you, and move on.
