IIN to feel scared of aging even if you’re younger

  • When I was in my 20’s and younger I didn’t worry about my age. In my mid 30’s I worried about getting old. By my mid 40’s I kind of stopped worrying about it as there is nothing any of us can do to stop ourselves getting older apart from dying, and I’m not ready for that if I can help it. Once I stopped worrying about it I started to realise I don’t even feel old. I’m now in my early 50’s and don’t really feel any different than I did 20 years ago, before I even started worrying about my age. I am active, have a few hobbies and work part time. I keep my house clean and tidy and have an amazing sex life with my husband. We have some great holidays traveling abroad most years. I have a great relationship with all my children who are now all grown up and living their own lives. I might enjoy listening to different music than those younger than me, and don’t frequent night clubs anymore. But I’m certainly not tucked up in bed with hot chocolate and some boring romantic novel by 10pm. We live our lives to the full, still go out partying with like minded friends and often still ‘burn the candle at both ends’ as they say. I put much of the way I feel down to a healthy diet and regular exercise, plus I only ever drink water. I have my husband to thank for this as he imposed all these rules on me many years ago. I guess age will catch up with me eventually but until then I don’t intend worrying about it.
