I think some people can have a tendency to worry about things in such a manner. I could also imagine people worrying about the religion or political views of an artist.
I think you're worrying too much.
In my opinion it would be a good idea for you to get a more relaxed attitude towards drugs. You seem to act as if drugs are the work of The Devil, and as if abstaining from drugs is a holy matter.
Yes, drug use can have negative consequences, as can eating too many donuts. To me, doing drugs is not wrong (if they are produced responsibly). It is something that can get out of hand. Therefore I think you should not feel guilty about listening to drug related music, actually I find it a bit silly. (At the same time, I think I have been prone to doing the same sort of thing myself, earlier.)
I think I can relate, when you talk about feeling alienated because you feel different from other people who enjoy the same music as you. I am quite sure, though, that there are many people who enjoy progressive/alternative music and don't use drugs, so you do fit in somewhere.
If someone thinks you are a drug user because you listen to Porcupine Tree and Radiohead, then... I don't know, because I don't understand why you would think that anybody would think that.
And are you sure, that the Black Sabbath songs you are referring to are not just promoting drug use, instead of drug abuse?
Is it normal to feel really uncomfortable about this?
