"Really, I cannot stop thinking about it, and it's making me feel insecure and alienated, because I am in a minority. I am also frightened of what other people would think of me if I showed them my taste in music, because I am certain that they would instantly believe I do drugs..."
From this, you clearly care WAY too much what people think of you. Being in a "minority" makes you feel bad? Why? To me, it sounds like you are insecure about who you really are. Like you're afraid of being judged. If that's the case, you need to simply care less about what others think. If someone you were with told you that something you really love to do is "stupid" or "a waste of time" would you simply stop doing it in order to "fit in"? If so, you're too much of a sheep and not enough of a (wo)man.
"...because it's like the music is trying to convince me to turn to drugs."
If it was a person that was trying to convince you to turn to drugs, would you continue to hang out with them? If the music just makes you feel bad, then why listen to it?
I listen to the music because I enjoy it, but I hate how it's connected with drug use, because drug use is connected with criminal activity, madness and death, and this makes me feel embarrassed to enjoy it. I will get over it soon I think.
Is it normal to feel really uncomfortable about this?
