Is it normal to feel pushed to be promiscuous by society?

I am a guy. I am tired of all the people I know, because it just seems as if their lives were all about sex. For example, I am about to study abroad, and no one is even asking anything about my career, they are all like: "You will bang chicks from all over the world! You are so lucky!".

I also like befriending people from any gender, without worrying about eventually having sex. But no one else seems to think like that. Terms like "friendzoning" just seems so ridiculous to me...

Right now most of my friends kind of mock me because of my lack of sexual experience. I have only had sex a few times in my life, and only in serious relationships. I personally don't want to have sex just for the sake of having it, but it just seems like society expects me to "bang bitches". I am really considering being more promiscuous, just because it feels like I will fit better if I act like that.

This might sound silly, but I feel kind of depressed right now because society considers me a "loser".

So, is it normal?

I know it's difficult to not feel pressured by other people, but you know what? Only you can control what you do with your life. I've choosen to live my life how I want to, and I don't allow others to control it, and it's fun that way!

So, as cliche as this sounds, just be yourself.

You would hate me as sex is the only thing that truly matters to me and any ambition I might have has as the end goal that sex becomes more easily available lol.

    • Maybe, but the fact that you are honest about it actually makes me like you a little.

Totally normal. Society puts a lot of pressure on each gender. To be honest, in society's eye, I'm probably a bigger loser than you. Don't get what other people think let you down though, just ignore your friends. You decide how you should live your life, not society, or other people. Go and study abroad and try to find your own meaning in life and live it the way you want to. It doesn't matter if you're a loser in society's eye, because as long as you can make yourself happy, then you'll be a winner to the most important person, yourself.

Fuck the Church, they want u to kneel, obey, and the worst of all "believe". The biggest enemy the the church establishment is a land full of hard dicked free thinkers, capeable of coming to terms with the uncertintys of life without the promise of divine immunity... Without the invention of religon the world would be atleast 1000 years more advanced in science & and the persuit of whats TRUELY important, taking care of our fellow man no matter his color, sex, or choice... Im going to end this with a quote, "When we can feed, cloth, and educate every man, woman, and child without one eception, we will be free to explore the stars as one happy persons".

No one even mentioned the church here.

Also, I am an atheist, but I think I am reading a lot of nonsense from you. First of all, religion was not "an invention", it is a collection of beliefs that is part of a bigger sociocultural system.

And it is true, the Catholic Church sucks, but what if I told you that they actually promoted rational thinking, research and education in the so called "Dark Ages"?

I know it's anxiety, but whenever I go into a church, I feel like I might burst into flames. Every muscle in my body goes rigid and I seem to have problems speaking to anyone. If I had hair on my back it would be standing on end. I don't know why this is, because I never had a problem with churches growing up. In fact, I enjoyed trying out different ones. I don't think it's the people, because I can interact with them just fine outside of a religious building.

Yeah.... the world is over sexualized these days. I'll tell you what though man! Now adays your a rebel if you don't. You be a goddamn rebel! I basically live by these words cause I'm like you. People are like "You've never had a one night stand??" "You don't smoke weed?" And I'm like...yeah, I'm a rebel. What can I say lol I just don't do things I don't feel like doing. Doesn't matter if 'everyone else' is doing it

We all have to deal with aspects of society that we dislike. And "just be yourself" is not the best advice, since we are often bad judges of our own character and desire.

Try to find balance between the herd mentality of your friends, and "I don't have to conform to the world; it has to conform to me." attitude of the members in IIN.

It pushes us all too. That goes for men and women. Look at all the whores on tv. Sex sells and that is what media will push.
