Is it normal to feel not human like this?

  • Sounds like depersonalization. I get this often but not as bad as you are describing. I'm never out of body and always see through my eyes. It can be a symptom of a number of things. Schizophrenia often causes these symptoms but if these are the only symptoms it is unlikely to be schizophrenia and more likely a dissociative disorder.

    • This is kinda a dumb question but what's the difference between depersonalizaion and dissociation?

      • Depersonalization is feeling you are not real.
Derealizaion is feeling everything else is not real.
        Both are dissociative symptoms.
Dissociation is a more vague term describing these symptoms as well as other ones such as blackouts, amnesia, fugue, and other similar traits.

        • Thanks! I used to always just use the term dissociation but it's really good to have more specific terms.

          • "Depersonalization disorder" includes both, which makes it more confusing.
