Is it normal to feel nervous in college?

I just started college. It's been three days now and I still feel really nervous. Every night before it, I can't get myself together. All I do is laying down in bed feeling l the panic attack. I feel like crying. And I feel even worse when I'm in class. I'm worried that I might not fit in or make any friends because I'm an awkward and anxious person. It's been three days, and people start hanging out already. I don't want to end up being depressed or alone for another four years.

Most friendships made during orientation last anywhere from 2 hours to 2 weeks. On occasion lasting friendships are made, but you really can't meet people very well in that environment. Once the dust settles people are still trying to form real connections and this continues throughout college and life. Being awkward and anxious are actually high commodities in college. You will find in a couple weeks that people begin socializing less like highschoolers and more like adults, well some of them at least, I think most.
