  • Dreams can have serious emotional impact. Normally this feeling doesn't last for long though. Dreams seem to be categorized in our brain in such a way we forget them very quickly. And thats a good thing. I suppose if you are a person who remembers dreams very vividly these effects can last longer. There's a lot of methods to remembers dreams better, but i'm not a fan of that. Some dreams are meant to be forgotten quickly.
As someone who grew up and still has alot of night terrors/bad dreams I am very happy I never remember my dreams for long. I believe dreams work out some kind of anxiety from your daily life, but that doesnt mean its really helpfull to remember them. No matter what the dream is about, the subjects don't really matter. Just the emotions. And you shouldnt be encumberred by those emotions during the day.

I remember a dream where I was a fighter pilot in some airplain and made a mistake which meant one of my team fighter pilot died. I felt this emotion as real as I would lose a member of my close family, I woke up crying...and oh the guilt, because I was the one making a mistake. The subject doesnt matter...i'm not in a position where I drive/fly any kind of vehicle that could impact peoples lives or anything. But the emotion was very real. Just working out some vaguely connected real life anxiety...and no reason to think to long about that specific dream (yet for some reason this example has stayed with me...sure am glad the average of 3 nights a week of bad dreams don't really stay with me. I just remember them when I wake up and I feel the effects of residual emotions. But by the time I'm having breakfast I don't really pay them no mind anymore)
