  • That sounds like the condition I have! There are a lot of conditions that can cause dizziness, though, so you should definitely see a doctor. They'll be able to check for anaemia, low blood pressure, and the like, and if all of that comes out negative, you should probably see a cardiologist to be tested for POTS and NCS.

If you have NCS (neurocardiogenic syncope, aka vasovagal syncope or neurally mediated syncope), which is what I have, they'll probably advise you to increase salt intake, increase fluid intake, avoid standing quickly, avoid alcohol, and decrease caffeine intake (unless they prescribe you caffeine; they do that sometimes). If that doesn't work, they may prescribe medication. If THAT doesn't work, sometimes they give people pacemakers, but I think that's only in severe cases that don't respond to other therapy. I sort of wish they'd give me one, but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, good luck! If you're diagnosed with POTS, NCS, or another form of dysautonomia, or if you just want to talk to somebody who understands what it's like to deal with syncope, I'd be happy to talk about it with you, if you'd like. You can reach me at [email protected]
