As you say,it's only "free" when you do as your told, don't rock the boat, or have enough money not to care.
Really feel your anguish mate, but you need to try and find a way to get some help.
Maybe a local newspaper would take up your plight, or look for lawyers who offer Pro Bono work to deserving cases, and contact your local child services and, maybe, even your local police too.
