Is it normal to feel like i take advantage of people who help me?

I tend to feel guilty about accepting help from people that I really would need in difficult situations, not because I feel incapable, but rather I feel that they do me a world of good I cannot easily repay. also I just can't accept gifts or donations of charity readily until I think people won't miss that stuff, I do not want to be the reason some guy is down an important tool, or will make them have extreme difficulties with something. Is this odd, or what?

The best thing I would say is make sure you let them know how much you REALLY APPRECIATE (that is if you really do) the assistance to which they afforded you. If they need nothing at the time I would make a promise (if you can make and KEEP a promise) to Pay It Forward. If people could do that to give a neighbor a hand, or help the elderly with anything they help with them the world could actually be a better shit hole than it is now. So many people are such a ass crack that they won't lift a finger to help someone unless they "get paid" for their time. 30-35 years ago I was in the Navy in San Diego. It was something I really got a sense of satisfaction of driving somewhere, if I saw someone on side of road broke down I would usually stop to offer assistance. If they offered me something I would usually just ask that they pay it forward. So if you feel guilty then maybe you should be trying more to return the favor or like I said P.I.F. He'll another someone when you can. Help out a good pantry, or other things that you can walk away from feeling a warm and fuzzy sense that you did a good deed for someone today all because - You could and they needed a hand.
