Animals help me stay connected to reality and the Universe, they are part of God's creation. My cat is NEVER disgusting to me. Even if he has sticky poop on his butt he is not disgusting. I just clean him up, and he's good as new!
If I couldn't have a cat or a dog I would want a rat, but a dog-like cat is the best. I can never understand people who don't like animals. I think without a pet I would start to marvel at insects and arachnids. I'm starting to grow found of the ants here. I love spiders!
Don't get me wrong I like animals. I love my dog, he is really good boy. When I say they disgust me I'm not talking about the dirty stuff, that I don't really care.
What bother me about them, and about humans too, is the fact that we are made of meat. I feel really weird out. The fact that we are able to think and feel makes it even weirder. It really makes me uneasy...
I love everything you said until the rat part. I have cats that are like dogs. My buddha love muff cost me $1800 and is worth every penny. His cute shaved belly is just more rubbable than ever.

A domestic shorthair orange cat. I can't wrap my head around pet rats even though I had hamsters as a kid.

Rats don't really bite as much as hamsters. My rats certainly didn't bite. Rats are just really sweet!
