Is it normal to feel like a zombie?

I feel emotionless, and just dead. I can't concentrate in school, and I'm just generally not responding to people's jokes or attempts to make me feel better. I try to smile or laugh when they do joke around, so they won't feel completely ignored, especially my boyfriend. I try, but it's difficult to get myself to smile. I end up ignoring him, and I love him, but I just don't want to hurt him. I just feel like a zombie. My skin is always cold, and when my boyfriend grabs my hand, he worries. Is this normal? What do I do?

  • This was me! School is depressing. I feel you. It is more depressing when you are stuck in a school you hate, you are not getting it, everyone else is doing well and you just want to leave.

  • I feel this way at times as well. Go see a psychiatrist.

  • By reading that you go to concerts and festivals your depression can be from drugs if you participate in them during these events. Not saying your a druggie in any way but doing common concert drugs like Extacy and acid coke etc can have a toll on your seratonin levels making you just feel blah for no reason

  • You sound bored, try to find some excitement in your life. Change your routine and try to have fun more. Clearly your not emotionless if you're worried about your behavior.

    • It's not that I'm worried, I just want to know if this is relatively "normal". And I do have excitement in my life. I go to concerts, festivals, and hang out with friends. But I wouldn't say I'm generally "happy", is all.

      • Well what is happiness? I'm not always happy, but I wouldn't say I feel dead. Also, if those things aren't making you at least feel, then try doing something else.

        • Yeah. But it's really hard to find something that does make me "feel".

          • You sound depressed, perhaps you might want to see a psychiatrist. Try to find stuff that will make you feel, do something spontaneous.
