  • No you wouldn't be a murderer. They have to sign many contracts and other forms that gives all responsibilities to the patient, also, when such a complication happens, the surgeon would feel guilt, but you have to remember it was all done under the intention of helping the patient survive. Likely the patient would pass away a more tragic death if left un-treated.

  • Why do you ask original poster? Have you done this before??

  • I voted "no" - as in no you're not a murderer just because someone died on your table.

Sometimes the medical complications are too great for medical intervention - and sometimes it's just someone's time to die and nothing you can do can change it.

I mean it's normal to be upset, even ask yourself if you did enough or did too much.

In fact I've heard of it being rather common for doctors to have strong feelings - even fears - of death. And that they entered into the medical field as a means to prevent as much death as possible.

So it's not strange to feel upset if a surgery didn't succeed. But it is not murder in any way shape or form

  • People requiring surgery, especially emergency surgery, are often very clinically unstable. Death is sometimes the result but it would be incredibly rare that it is premeditated to make the death a murder. If death is the result of negligence on the part of the medical team then that may be manslaughter but not murder.

  • Isn't murder pre-meditated?

  • You can just do the cliche "I'm sorry Sir/Mam. We did all we could. *act sorrowful* and yet we did everything we could" *then act like you're remorseful* thus the people would not blame you so much.

  • there people....not bugs...... listen man, death is a normal part of life, its hard watching someone take their last breath and then its over.... on my viewpoint i've seen death before my eyes several times....to many times..... its very, cynical to just up and forget about such a horrible event and treat it like nothing, so you would be right to think your murdering someone...only in a way though, i'm not saying you did....just take time, take it easy, and recover yourself because all it is is life. good luck pal.

  • Murder is intentionally killing someone. Often times the patient is too damaged and doesn't make it through the surgery, it's not the doctor's fault.

  • in order to be labeled murdere, you must first have the premetitated state of trying to hurt someone. if r in surgery obviously your intentions are to save a lifeshit happens ,sometimes its just your time to go,with or with out help from another person
