The universe will change if Earth disappeared, but only slightly. Your concept would only apply if Earth was 'everything that existed'. Even then, Earth will still rotate if one person out of billions killed himself? Many people die every day.
Not saying life is hopeless, just that the universe isn't based on US specifically.
