Is it normal to feel judged by gays!

I'm not homophobic intact my best friend came out of the closet last year and I admire her for her bravery, and adore her and love her to death! We were having dinner last night and the discussion came up about judgmental people and the GLTB community. I don't understand how the GLTB wants equal rights and feels judgement towards them, however as a community they are the most judgmental. If you have any opinion other than in support of their "fight" you are a bigot! For example I thought it was irresponsible for Perez HIlton to basically go on a smear campaign last year when he asked in he beauty pageant if gays should have a right to marry and the contestant gave the answer of NO. I thought not only was it irresponsible for Perez HIlton but unfair. YES he has every right to express his opinion on how he didn't agree with the answer, but he went on a full on attack after her. Anyone else feel judged and emotionally attacked by the GLTB?

Is It Normal?

  • If you had your civil liberties reduced just because of your sexuality and then someone was ignorant enough to tell you that they agreed with this injuustice (for no good reason), you might get a trifle testy too.

Although I agree with you that everyone in entitled to their own opinion, and that opinions change over time. For instance, is it morally correct to keep slaves these days, even though it may have been seen so two centuries ago?

  • I defend your opinion even if I don't agree with it. People are forgetting what freedom of speech is. I am not anti gay but as long as there are no threats being made or actual discrimination I am fine with people who don't support gay marriage.
If you want tolerance you should be tolerant. A lot of people's beliefs don't allow gay marriage and that's not tolerating their religious rights.

  • Yes however they are united as one group as individuals. So I'm sure you would think that ALL the Talaban is evil, even though there may be individuals who are good. BTW I am NOT comparing the GLTB to the Talaban or that they are evil. it's just an example and how your theory as judging them as individuals can be perceived. I know many gay and lesbian individuals who are open hearted and understanding and can sit down and welcoming to have conversations regarding their sexual orientation. I grew up in SF the "promise land", and my views is not what this post is about, it's about as a group if you don't agree with them one night feel bulldozed which can push people away who may have a hard time accepting their lifestyle in the first place.

  • I didn't bring up the subject if it is a right or wrong. People are entitled to certain rights, however, It's just that the community "over powers" anyone who doesn't agree with their stance. Some may argue that it's a form of imitation and bullying.
