Is it normal to feel irritated and frustrated by ignorant people.

A month ago, My colleagues and I were bored so we started a random trivia session. I had the highest education qualification amongst us so I decided to ask simple elementary school questions to stay fair. I asked things like "what do you get when you mix blue with yellow?" and "what do plants use to absorb water?" Yet, a friend of mine could not answer them and he accused me of asking a question on a subject that he did not learn that was art. I felt really frustrated and irritated by his lack of basic knowledge. I mean, you don't have to learn art academically to know that blue and yellow makes green.

so is it normal to feel frustrated and annoyed?

I think the question "What do you get when you mix blue with yellow?" betrays a certain ignorance of its own; when blue and yellow pigments are mixed, a dark green colour results. However, when blue and yellow light are mixed, it forms white.

    On topic-
Ignorance can be extremely annoying, especially among friends, however most of my friends are rather well-educated. What's more annoying is when an ignorant person is adamant that they are correct, despite knowing little about what they are talking about.

Sometimes people don't even remember that stuff from elementary school, but you are right, they should at least know what you get if you mix blue with yellow. Not too long ago a guy showed me some sort of survey asked to average Americans. It was sad. None of them were able to say a country that starts with the letter U and one of them thought Fidel Castro was a singer.

well actually in the Additive mixing of blue and yellow pigments you do get green, but when you add blue and yellow lights you don't.

I find ignorant people and people with low intelligence extremely annoying. I only involve myself with people with equal intelligence to myself, or I risk becoming extremely angry and I'd probably end up hitting someone.

It's normal, depending on your definition of ignorance. If ignorance to you is "they don't agree with my opinion that has no solid evidence to back it up", then fuck you. But if your definition of ignorance is that they don't know even basic facts, yeah, I see why you'd be annoyed by that. For me, if someone does not know the basics about subjects that I am brushed up in, then it makes it difficult for me to want to engage in conversation with them involving those topics.

And it makes me angrier when people lack the basic knowledge of some subjects but make claims based on what they don't know of those subjects anyway >.<

    Yes.

It's worse when you're on a trivia team, and you know the answer, no one else does, and they fucking doubt you. Bullshit. I had that happen to me with a question about 'what's a female donkey called'....motherfuckers, I got this...but they didn't believe me until we got the point for it. Fucking idiot assholes. It's called a Jenny...anyone want to doubt me??
