I think there's sort of two parts to being stoned from the herb. First there's the buzzed feeling that can last 1-3 hours depending on how sensitive you are, how much you toked, and how great the bud is. Second is much more like an all over relaxed feeling that can last for several hours afterward and usually part of the next day. It is different (the lengths of time) for everyone though and it can be very subtle for some.
It's a possibility that there have been pesticides used to grow the weed that you are smoking, but I don't know how likely it is and I think that it would give you a smart headache if it did. Plus, wouldn't you be able to tell by the way it smelled?
