Is it normal to feel guilty even if you haven't done anything

I feel heavy with guilt. It's just depressive. I feel guilty for even small reasons. And also even if I had done something years ago. Is there a way to make me feel light? Guilt has been on my mind, weighing me down. It interferes with my work...

Yes that's a very normal and common emotion with depression.

I agree, you are not depressed, you have an anxiety disorder it seems. I know people say depression and anxiety are hand in hand and nearly the same, but they are not! very different. One is lack of emotion and energy. The other is hyper sensitivity and can't keep still. Ones is having a part of your brain working in overdrive, the other has your brain set to idle. One is constantly worrying and scanning for threats, the other is laying in bed not even caring if there is a threat because they want to die.

My experience, time is the best cure. Don't listen to anyone, do what works for you.

No even raised Catholic? Unnecessary guilt can be directly linked to Catholicism. Lol

        • My whole family doesn't believe in God :) my guilt is something I can't get rid of. It's really unnecessary guilt that makes me feel heavy in my chest and makes me write depressive poems 😟

Don't feel poorly about expressing your feelings through poetry. Assume all you can do it write more meaningful shit. And when are meaningless meatsuits don't matter anymore, someone may find what you write meaningful in their own meaninglessness. (That's a good word 😉)

try meditation and remember to be positive in your future actions. you can do good deeds that will repay the bad karma

It's unfortunately normal. Try to stop that, though, otherwise it becomes a habit and you blame yourself for things that aren't remotely related to you.

What if someone were found guilty in a court of law and he stood up and said, "But your honor, I don't FEEL guilty!"

Hard to even imagine or comment on without knowing at least one or two of the small reasons.

I don't think it's normal to feel guilty if you haven't done anything. I do have a couple of ideas for possible solutions in my head.
