  • I'm the same. There were loads of books I wanted so I went down to the bookstore, took them off the shelf and then just walked out without paying.

    I think this is morally superior, though, because at least the author still gets paid for his work (the bookstore bought the book and I'm only stealing from them, rather than the people whose work brings me pleasure).

    • No, because the store can't sell the books anymore.
      When you pirate, at least they can still sell copies.

      • I think you missed the point slightly. Why care more about the shop that sells you a copy of an item than the creative mind which produced it?

        • The creative mind got the money because the shop purchased the books they were going to sell.

          • True, but print runs only accelerate and shops only buy larger stocks when things are proven popular with the public. I still think the shop as a middleman isn't the driving force behind music sales.
